SCAD Sculpture Iron Pour: Winter 2011
February 19, 2011.
Students from the Savannah and Atlanta sculpture departments got together for an Iron Pour at the B-Complex in Atlanta Georgia. During the winter quarter students in SCPT 271: Introduction to Foundry from both campuses are joined with other students in the sculpture department to participate in a weekend of casting activities.
The Pour was supervised by Professor Allen Peterson SCAD Atlanta and Professor Matt Toole SCAD Savannah. These casting weekends provide an opportunity for students from both campuses to come together and work collaboratively in one of the most inspiring and dynamic sculptural processes.
A special thanks to Chair Krause and Professor Jarvis for providing the post pour pizza and bottled water. A video from the pour can be found here.

Chakaia Booker:Sustain
Friday October 8, 2010. Artist Chakaia Booker gave an artist talk to a packed audience at the Pinnacle Gallery on the Savannah campus. Her Exhibit Sustain featured a large wall relief in her signature rubber material and six photoengrauve plates that were produced on the Atlanta campus. While in town she had lunch with students Ursula Dilley and Noah Conrath. The audience was wrapped by her presentation as she meandered through the audience as she spoke. A lively question and answer period followed. An excellent review of the Atlanta exhibit can be found on Atlanta's Burnaway website.
